This fantastic personality truly represents the entire world of magic!

John Calvert is truly a legend of legerdemain and will be celebrating his 100 birthday on August 5th at the Abbott Get Together. Those attending the Get Together will have the pleasure of seeing and sharing friendship with a true icon of magic. We feel that a possible question and answer time will allow us a glimpse into his 100 years of yesterdays.
We will be celebrating John Calvert's 100th birthday after the Friday Show Aug 5th in the dealers room.
There also be be a John Calvert "film festival" at the library on Thursday Aug 4th from 5-7pm

DAN STAPLETONS BLINDFOLDED DRIVE
The first blindfold drive during the Get Together in over ten years!
|
Dan Stapleton will be doing a blindfolded drive during the 74th Get Together which will take him past the Abbott magic plant and through various areas of the Magic Capital. The last person to attempt this feat during the Get Together was Jim Underwood and that was over ten years ago.
Dan actually visited his first Abbott's convention way back in 1972. Just after that, Disney World called Dan away (from Wisconsin) to be one of their "demonstrator's" in their new Merlin's Magic Shop.
In 2005 Stapleton was awarded the Best Parade trophy from Linking Ring magazine.

George (and friends) takes you step by step through the basics of ventriloquism and demonstrates everything along the way. You do not need a puppet! You do not need any special equipment or talent to do this, and the entire family can learn and be entertained at the same time. Highly recommended for everyone who wants to add a touch of fun to their act!
A past national president of the Society of American Magicians who has also been elected to the SAM Hall of Fame, Schindler serves on the board of trustees of the Society of American Magicians Endowment Fund. He is the chairman of the Houdini Hospital Fund. He is a member of the IBM, MAES, the Magic Circle of London, the Australian Society of Magicians and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Milbourne Christopher Foundation.

COLON CEMETERY TOUR
Al continues a wonderful Get Together tradition

Al takes you on a tour of the Colon cemetery where many famous magicians are buried. Al explains who each magician was, what they did and some insight about them in his own, inimitable way. This tour is a favorite project of Al's. Why? One reason could be that 18 years earlier Karrell Fox gave Al the same tour, check it out here
Al has been featured in many local publications and magazines such as "Crain's Small Business", "Money", and "Success", for his work in Corporate America. Although he typically performs at company banquets, cocktail parties and hospitality suites, you can also find him working at trade shows and sales meetings.

Begin the 2011 Abbotts Magic Get-together with the most enjoyable, non-scheduled event during Magic Week: The 21st Annual Open Colon Golf Classic. If you like to golf, like to party and like to spend a day with magicians who golf...YOU CAN'T MISS THIS GOLF OUTING. Tee off time is at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2011 at St. Joseph Valley Golf Club (1 269 467 6275) , on M-86 just west of Nottawa, Michigan.
Heres what you need to know: $10.00 is your cost to Al The Only the day of the outing. There is NO pre-registration. If you show up, you're there. If you want to golf, you pay the greens and cart fee at the course. If you want to eat/drink, you order what and when you want and pay for it. For more info click here.
